Coming Soon: UserEffect.com
I have to apologize for what's been a pretty light posting schedule lately. A couple of months ago, I decided to redesign the debabblog, to create space for additional content and better reflect usability principles. During that process, though, I realized just how dissatisfied I had become with the name and identity. My original concept of "technology debabbled" had given way to a blog focused primarily on usability issues. At the same time, no one could spell "debabblog" and the name was ultimately too clever for its own good (which is a nice way of saying that I was apparently the only one who thought it was clever). So, in the next month or two I'll be relaunching the debabblog as UserEffect.com (there's just a teaser up now). Although the focus of the blog will be similar, and I'll still be very focused on website usability and user experience, I'm also looking forward to digging deeper into the evolution of the internet, specifically how people have changed the web through their interaction, as well as the ways the web is changing people and how we function.
I'll also be making some long-overdue content enhancements, including easier linking to and between posts, some space for articles and white papers, and a usability blogroll. A number of people have been kind enough to link to the debabblog on their usability and technology blogs, and I'll be returning that favor very soon.
Once the redesign is launched, I'll be rededicating that time to content, so expect to hear more from me at that point. In the meantime, thanks for reading and stay tuned...

· Monday, August 6Thanks; I've been playing around with the colors and font since you last saw it. It had a bit too much of a video game feel before; I want it to be a little high-impact, but not jarring. Of course, now I'm mired in the pure artistic angst that is designing my own blog template (and cutting up the CSS).

· Tuesday, August 7Looks good, reminded me of the Ubuntu logo. Looking forward to the site and your writings.

· Tuesday, August 7Wow, I'm glad I didn't notice that during the design process; ritual suicide is a terrible way to wrap up a project :) I have friends who swear by Ubuntu, so I'll just have to consider it a positive association at this point. I wonder if theirs is meant to represent people as well (I noticed that the "heads" and "bodies" are in mismatched colors)? I have to admit, I find logo design and branding endlessly fascinating.

· Tuesday, August 7I like the logo too; it maintains colors similar to debablog, but looks... unique. Out of curiosity, was there any particular reason for the spiral?

· Tuesday, August 7Thanks, Kevin; I actually intended to get away from the color scheme, but ended up back where I started. I actually crowdsourced most of the logo; I went through a lot of versions of the iconography, but wanted to capture the idea of people taking action. The icon is supposed to be three people being pulled into a sort of vortex, as if they're joining forces to create something.
