Strategic Website Usability

Helpful Tip for Technorati Users

I was updating my Technorati profile the other day, and when I went to upload a new photo, came across this very helpful tip from the staff:
Tip: Please do us a favor and upload a photo that does not show your very special but also very private parts. When you do that, we have to take time away from making our website faster and better to go find your profile and hide it, and that's bad for you and us. Thanks for helping!
That's good advice. I've met a lot of bloggers in my day, and most of them/us should remain clothed in public.

If you thought this post was actually going to provide a useful tip and are starting to feel cheated, here's a nice blog post by someone else on improving your Technorati authority.

This reminded me of an image I stumbled on a while ago that I posted to YOUmoz.

Well, I guess they are tired of getting pornographic pictures.

Some years ago I worked for an internet company reviewing stuff the people were uploading. We were getting nasty stuff all the time...

That reminds me of a Seinfeld episode where George gets caught in the act of having sex with the cleaning lady in his office and responds with something like "Is that against the rules? Should I not have done that?" It's funny because people actually act like that - as Technorati has discovered.

Dave: I love that scene. I can just see someone on the phone with Technorati after posting a naked profile picture: "Was that wrong? If someone had told me there was a rule about that sort of thing..."
