Strategic Website Usability

Measuring Usability: The Basics

Part of my original goal in doing the three part series on measuring usability (analytics, conversion rate, and split testing) was to revise and compile those entries into a more formal article. I'm happy to announce that I've just completed Measuring Usability: The Basics, also available as a 300KB PDF. Both are also available from the Articles tab. Here's the synopsis:
Usability is not a luxury. If your website drives revenue, no matter how big or small, you have a vested interest in turning motivated users into buyers, and that requires understanding the needs and expectations of those users. Fortunately, you don't need a big budget or a team of men in white coats wielding eye-tracking lasers to get a handle on your website's usability.
As always, comments and criticisms are welcome.

Dr. Pete,

This is a excellent paper, I really enjoyed reading it. Excellent insights that cover a lot of ground in five short pages (and pretty to boot!). I highly recommend it to everyone.

Thanks,

Avinash.

Thanks, Avinash; I consider that high praise. To all my readers with an interest in web analytics, I also sincerely recommend Avinash's excellent blog, Occam's Razor.
